Law Enforcement & Government Requests
Last updated: 2 November 2026
This policy explains how Eboona responds to requests from governments, courts and law enforcement for user data or content removal.
Our principles
- We act only on requests that are lawful, specific and properly authorised.
- We try to disclose or remove the minimum necessary.
- We protect freedom of expression and avoid over-removal, while removing content that is unlawful where we are legally bound to do so.
- We take legal advice before responding to any government order about content or user data, including orders under Pakistan's Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and its amendments.
Content removal requests
- Send written requests through our contact form choosing the legal or copyright subject. Include the issuing authority, the legal basis, the exact URL and a point of contact.
- We assess each request against the law that applies, check that the issuer has authority, and act on valid requests. We may restrict content in one country only where that is legally sufficient.
- Where permitted, we tell the affected author what was removed and why, and how to appeal.
- Copyright complaints follow the Copyright and DMCA Policy.
User data requests
- We require valid legal process (for example a court order or an equivalent lawful demand). Informal requests are not enough, except in genuine emergencies involving a risk of death or serious injury.
- We notify the affected user before disclosure unless the law or the order prohibits it, or notice would put someone at risk.
- We disclose only the data the request legally covers.
Child safety and urgent harm
We remove child sexual abuse material and non-consensual intimate imagery as soon as we are aware of it, and report as the law requires.
Records and transparency
We keep a record of every request and our response, and we publish aggregate statistics on our Transparency page.
Contact
Authorities should contact us through the contact form and clearly mark the request as a legal request.
