Community Guidelines
Welcome to the Eboona Community
Eboona is an open-access platform built for curious minds, passionate storytellers, and independent thinkers. We believe that great ideas flourish when writers can publish without artificial barriers and readers can engage in honest, constructive discussions.
To preserve a welcoming, civil, and high-trust ecosystem, everyone who reads, writes, or comments on Eboona agrees to follow these Community Guidelines alongside our Terms of Service and Publishing Policy.
1. What We Encourage & Celebrate
We love content and interactions that elevate the community:
- Thoughtful Perspectives: Nuanced opinions, real-world experiences, investigative reporting, and creative expression.
- Constructive Disagreement: Disagreeing with an idea while respecting the person who wrote it. Challenge arguments with evidence, reason, and courtesy.
- Curiosity & Learning: Asking insightful questions, sharing useful references, and helping fellow readers explore complex topics.
- Supportive Feedback: Giving authors constructive, actionable feedback that helps them refine their craft.
2. Commenting & Discussion Standards
Comments on Eboona are meant to deepen the conversation, not derail it. When commenting or replying:
- Attack the argument, not the person: Name-calling, ad hominem attacks, slurs, condescension, and insults will be removed immediately.
- Stay relevant: Keep comments focused on the topic of the article. Off-topic rants, irrelevant links, and self-promotional spam are not permitted.
- Back up claims: If you are challenging an author's factual assertions or technical statements, provide credible sources or constructive context.
- Assume good faith: Approach other perspectives with openness before assuming malicious intent.
3. Strictly Prohibited Behavior
The following activities have zero place on Eboona and will result in immediate content removal and potential account suspension:
A. Harassment & Bullying
- Targeted intimidation, stalking, online mobbing, or threatening messages directed at authors, commenters, or subjects of articles.
- Doxxing: Posting personal contact information, physical addresses, private phone numbers, or private documents of any individual without explicit consent.
B. Hate Speech & Discrimination
- Content or comments that demean, dehumanize, incite hatred, or promote violence against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or age.
C. Plagiarism & Content Theft
- Copying full articles, paragraphs, photographs, or graphics from other writers or websites without permission, attribution, or legal authorization. (See our Copyright & DMCA Policy for takedown procedures).
D. Spam & Commercial Manipulation
- Flooding comment sections with affiliate links, promotional codes, crypto schemes, or multi-level marketing campaigns.
- Using automated bots, artificial comment scripts, or vote manipulation tools.
- Publishing low-effort, repetitive "SEO spam" articles designed solely to manipulate search rankings.
E. Dangerous, Illegal & Explicit Material
- Pornographic, sexually explicit, or non-consensual sexual media.
- Content promoting self-harm, cyberattacks, malware distribution, fraud, or acts of physical violence.
4. Expectations for Authors & Contributors
Authors on Eboona have a responsibility to our readership:
- Accuracy & Integrity: Verify factual statements and cite primary sources where appropriate. Do not publish knowingly false or fabricated claims.
- Transparency with AI: While AI writing tools can assist with research or grammar, articles must reflect authentic human insight, original voice, and personal editorial review. Pure machine-generated "slop" will be rejected by our automated review systems.
- Disclose Conflicts & Sponsorships: If your article is sponsored or includes commercial affiliate links, you must disclose this relationship clearly and prominently within the text.
- Respect Community Moderation: Understand that all submissions pass through automated quality screening (our 10-point scoring model) and editorial review under our Publishing Policy.
5. How We Moderate & Enforce Rules
Eboona uses a combination of automated filters, editorial oversight, and community reporting to enforce these guidelines.
Our Enforcement Ladder:
- Content Removal: Comments or articles that violate our standards may be hidden, rejected, or permanently deleted.
- Formal Warning: For minor or first-time infractions, our team will issue an educational warning to the account email.
- Privilege Restriction: Continued comment violations may lead to muting or temporary revocation of commenting rights while keeping reader access intact.
- Account Suspension or Termination: Egregious violations—such as hate speech, doxxing, malware distribution, or repeat copyright infringement—will result in immediate, permanent account termination.
6. How to Report a Violation
If you see a comment, article, or profile that violates these guidelines:
- Flag Comments: Click the flag/report option on the comment to bring it directly to our moderation queue.
- Report Articles: For copyright violations, use our Copyright Complaint Form. For general safety, abuse, or spam concerns, reach out to our team through our Contact Form (select Community Guidelines & Moderation).
Please provide links to the offending material and a brief description of the issue so our team can investigate promptly.
7. Appeals
If you believe an action was taken against your comment, article, or account in error, you may file an appeal through our Contact Form (select Moderation Appeal) within 30 days. Please include your account email, the context of the moderation action, and why you believe the decision should be revisited.
