Cookie Policy
At Eboona, we believe in complete transparency regarding the data technologies we utilize. This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar local storage technologies are, why we use them, and how you can exercise control over their placement on your device when using our platform.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your computer, tablet, or smartphone by web servers when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites function efficiently, remember your login state between page reloads, and provide anonymous operational insights to site administrators.
Cookies may be:
- Session Cookies: Temporary files that expire when you close your web browser.
- Persistent Cookies: Files that remain on your device for a specified duration or until manually deleted, allowing us to recognize your device upon return.
2. Categories of Cookies We Use
We categorize the cookies utilized on Eboona into the following functional tiers:
A. Strictly Necessary & Essential Cookies
These cookies are fundamental to the operation of Eboona. Without these cookies, you cannot log in, publish content, or navigate securely.
| Cookie Identifier | Provider | Purpose | Expiry |
| :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- |
| __Secure-authjs.session-token / authjs.session-token | Eboona | Maintains your encrypted authenticated session across pages. | 30 days |
| authjs.csrf-token | Eboona | Protects against Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) attacks on forms. | Session |
| authjs.callback-url | Eboona | Remembers the page you intended to visit prior to signing in. | Session |
| eboona_mfa_state | Eboona | Maintains intermediate verification state during Two-Factor Authentication. | Session |
Because these cookies are strictly necessary for core platform functionality and security, they cannot be turned off without disabling your ability to sign in or use authenticated features.
B. Session Management & Functional Preferences
These cookies and local storage tokens remember choices you make to provide an enhanced, convenient experience:
- Digest & Notification Preferences: Remembers your digest delivery frequency (
daily, weekly, ornone). - Client Reading History: Caches recently viewed articles locally (
eboona_reading_history) in your browser's local storage so you can quickly resume where you left off. - Tab & Filter State: Remembers active tabs on your profile and dashboard views.
C. Performance & Analytics Metrics
We collect aggregated, non-personally identifiable metrics to ensure platform speed, uptime, and discoverability:
- Article Read Counters: Anonymous counts of article page views to provide authors with transparent readership metrics.
- Error & Latency Logging: Technical diagnostics used to detect server errors, broken links, or API timeouts.
We do not use third-party analytics trackers that profile your browsing behavior across multiple unrelated websites.
D. Advertising & Tracking Cookies
Eboona does not deploy third-party advertising cookies, cross-site behavioral trackers, or data-broker pixels. We do not monetize your browsing history or sell profile information to advertisers.
3. How to Manage and Control Cookies
You retain the right to accept or decline cookies. While strictly necessary cookies are enabled by default to allow basic site operations, you can control and delete cookies through your web browser settings:
Browser Cookie Controls
Most modern browsers allow you to view, delete, or block cookies for specific sites or entirely:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Third-party cookies
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Enhanced Tracking Protection / Cookies and Site Data
- Apple Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Block all cookies
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data
Important Note: If you choose to reject or block all cookies, you may still browse public articles on Eboona, but authenticated features—including signing in, bookmarking posts, submitting comments, and managing your Author Studio—will not function properly.
4. Local Storage & Similar Technologies
In addition to cookies, Eboona utilizes HTML5 Local Storage (localStorage) to cache non-sensitive client preferences (such as your personal reading history list). Local storage data remains stored in your browser until cleared through browser data settings or via the Clear History button on your Profile.
5. Updates to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our operational technologies or applicable legal requirements (such as the EU ePrivacy Directive, GDPR, and CCPA). We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
6. Questions & Contact
If you have any questions or inquiries regarding our use of cookies and data storage technologies, please submit a message through our Contact Form (select Privacy & Data Rights Request).
